The missing link – the Scrappier Double Pinwheel quilt

Ask and you shall receive… I really love hearing what you want to see more of. It helps me so much when planing. Sometimes I feel like I am throwing stuff on the wall to see what sticks. Last month I showed off the quilt I made using the incredible Hedge Rose fabrics by Kelly Panacci. To create it I used my free pattern, The Double Pinwheel Quilt. You can download that file by clicking here. Or see the original version of the quilt by clicking here. However, since I have the hardest time using patterns and making the same quilt over and over again I changed it up quite a bit to make it a Scrappier Double Pinwheel Quilt.

This layout layout uses 9 colored fabrics instead of 3 colored fabrics. I was asked how I cut it so this is a little more info on how it was created. I included the yardage requirements and cutting guide below for the Scrappier Double Pinwheel quilt which finished size 58.25” x 78.5”.

General Guideline

To make one double pinwheel, you will need:
Inner color: two — 3″ x 8″; two — 3″ x 3″
Outer color: five — 5.5″ x 3″; six — 3″ x 3″

For one solid pinwheel, you will need:
Background fabric:
one — 10.5″ x 3″; one — 13″ x 3″; three — 3″ x 3″; four — 5.5″ x 3″
