The Great Jelly Roll Bash is on September 21st – Join me!

2018 is the year of the Quilty UFO

I spent all of last month completely obsessed with UFO’s. Not the alien carrier, flying saucer type but the quilty kind. Now if you are wondering What?! What is this crazy person talking about!” UFO also stands for Unfinished Object. Yes, that is right, BOM blocks, bee blocks, quilt tops, quilts that only need to be bound, patterns with fabric… all of those projects I have started and have left unfinished have been haunting me. The list keeps getting longer so I decided 2018 will be the year of Quilty UFO. Others might argue and tell me no, it’s the year of the dog and they are also right but for me if I could get half of the projects on my list done it would be a pretty good quilting year.

As the projects went in and out of my head the word kept going around with them so I started drawing them. Playing with the idea of a space ship and plants, I had a lot of fun designing a list for my Quilty UFO’s. I decided on the color violet for my project sheets because it is the Pantone Color of the Year and I love purple. You can download and print it (My list of UFOs) out too by clicking here. Then, I filled my list out and used the Happy Creative Year worksheet to plan out what projects I will work on throughout the year. (You can download that worksheet by clicking here.) I hope you like them and I hope you will work on your Quilty UFO’s with me.

Quilty UFO project bag

A goal of mine for a long time now has been to open a shop on Society6 and I am happy to announce that I have my first two designs up and ready for orders. You can get your very own Collector of UFOs project bag from my shop. Here is what they look like. The large pouch has a lot of room for fabric thread and more.

Finished Projects From 2017

Since all this focusing on my unfinished objects was bring me down I thought it was important to remind myself what I did accomplish this year. I actually had a really good year. Releasing five patterns which is a lot for me. Participated in some fun swaps and made many charity sewing bee blocks. Here is a collage of some of my finishes from 2017.

Here is a list of the projects featured above with links if available.
1 – Whole Lotta Love Quilt and pattern
2 – Transplant Mini Quilt and pattern
3 – Double Pinwheel Quilt and pattern
4 – Aron’s Quilt and pattern
5 – Garden Star 3 Quilt and pattern
6 – Flying geese Mini Quilt for a Swap
7 – Star Wars Mini Quilt for a Swap
8 – Union Jack for a Mini Quilt for Swap

I am looking forward to finishing a lot of projects this year. Guess What?? It is February and that means it is QuiltCon month. Actually, I plan on taking a quilty UFO to QuiltCon with me. Then I can get some quilting done after hours. Two years ago, I went to QuiltCon and it was total Modern Quilt Heaven!! I can’t wait. There were so many big brand booths. They had projects you could work on right there and free stuff. I signed up for a machine quilting class and am ready to take in all the information to improve my quilting skills. Are you going?? We should totally meet up if you are. If you are not going but want to see something… like a quilt that you entered into to the show or quilts from one of the categories send me a message and I will try my best to share…

Have a wonderful month!! And cheers to Quilty UFO’s
