Garden Star Three – Pattern Release

Guess what? It’s Tuesday. But it is not just any other regular dull and boring Tuesday because it is Quilt Pattern Release Tuesday! Which means it’s a party during the week, in mid-morning kind of day!! As you know, my pattern release days alway have a bang, and that’s the giveaway. We will get to that a little later. I am super excited to share with you the next pattern in the Garden Star Quilt Series; introducing . . . Garden Star Three. (#gs3quilt)

This quilt has been cooped up in my linen closet for about a year now. It has been dying to meet the world, but I have been dragging my feet. It is true, I skipped the pattern for Garden Star Two even though I have shown it to you. I will be releasing that pattern next year. But Garden Star Three is ready to come out into the world and have its own party. So let’s meet the quilt.

Garden Star Three

I found the fabric for this quilt, which is called The Emperor’s Garden by Maywood Studio, as a fat quarter set reduced to 50% off when I lived in El Paso many moons ago. What a steal, right! It was hoarded for many years. At one point, it was even going to be in a charity raffle, but it stayed in my stash for this perfect quilt, Garden Star Three. I love the colors! The hot pinks are a lovely contrast against that black. These designs are modern yet playful with the butterflies dancing here and there. The butterflies are definitely the thing that sold me on the fabric. I have a big soft spot for nature. It amazes me and leaves me in awe. That is why I had Mary Steele quilt in butterflies. She used a yellow thread that held a goldish tone. Mary is a longarm quilter here in Tucson and she is exceptional. She works within a deadline and is a joy to work with. I have now used her services on two of my quilts and love how flexible and open she is. Thank you, Mary, for making my quilt come to life.

This quilt will be gifted to a dear friend of mine, Lisa D. She is a wonderful lady that hosts artists of all media on her podcast in a gallery owned by her and her husband. I like to call it the Polish Project (because the building was a Polish grocery store), but the gallery is actually called 1100 Florence in Chicago, IL. You should definitely check out her podcast.
