I spent a lot of time picking out the perfect fabrics for this quilt. I bought some online and the others I bought at JoAnn’s. A few of these glorious fabrics are from Alexander Henry. I had never heard of this fabric designer before and found out that I REALLY like his work. The theme of this quilt is Day of the Dead, which is a Latin American holiday. On Day of The Dead people go to the place where a loved one’s body rests, they bring the deceased favorite foods, music and celebrate their life. In some ways it makes fun of dead and helps people cope with dead.

I made this quilt for my husband and gave it to him for one of our anniversaries. He always gives me a hard time about the fact that it took me eight years to get around to making him a quilt. But to be fair I must say that I stopped quilting for many years. However, I think that it is the best quilt that I have made so it was well worth the wait.
