Day of the Dead Quilt

This was such a fun quilt to make!! I spent a lot of time picking out the perfect fabrics for this quilt. The pattern is the perfect way to feature fabric prints that you love. I bought some online and the others I bought at JoAnn’s. A few of these glorious fabrics are from Alexander Henry. I had never heard of this fabric manufacturer before and found out that I REALLY like their work. The theme of this is a Day of the Dead quilt, which is also a Latin American holiday. On Day of The Dead people go to the place where a loved one’s body rests, they bring the deceased favorite foods, music and celebrate their life. In some ways it makes fun of dead and helps people cope with dead. It is a day full of color, creativity and love.

I quilted this quilt on my sisters long arm and she had the perfect quilting pattern, skulls. The stitches blend right into the quilt top but stand out from the back of the quilt back. I featured my favorite fabric on the back of the quilt.

Gifting the Day of the Dead Quilt

I made this quilt for my husband and gave it to him for one of our anniversaries. He always gives me a hard time about the fact that it took me eight years to get around to making him a quilt. But to be fair I must say that I stopped quilting for many years. However, I think that it is the best quilt that I have made so it was well worth the wait.
